Although it is widely known that plastic pollution has been increasing for several years, the numbers are quite alarming – a staggering 12 million tons of plastic ends up in the ocean annually.
Given that only 9% of plastic produced is recycled, it is crucial that we make efforts to decrease plastic consumption and manufacturing.
There are various ways in which we can contribute to reducing plastic waste, such as refraining from using single-use plastics, opting for reusable alternatives, cultivating our own food, purchasing items in bulk, using reusable water bottles, participating in litter clean-up events, buying second-hand goods, and advocating for and raising awareness about this issue.
